Limited color scanners are for applications that are mostly limited color but have some requirements for color. We have a category for limited color because the scanners are either limited to 8 bit (256) color or the color scanning is slow. Your color requirement is what will dictate the best scanner for your application. If you have need for scanning color mark-ups or line drawings, then a CIS technology is the fit. If your occasional color requirement is for full color (pictures) then a CCD technology scanner may be better.
