The large format digital inkjet copiers that are currently available are a combination of a large format scanner, and a large format printer. Many of these copiers are combined into a single footprint, and come equipped with a computer, and software to manage the copier functions. Other large format copiers are set up with two separate footprints, with the computer and software connected to the scanner, and the printer hanging on the network. There are many factors to take into consideration when choosing a large format copier, and we are happy to direct you to a solution that will meet all of your requirements in the best possible way.
The single footprint copier is often a good fit in an environment where space is an issue. The single footprint design allows for easy walk up copying, making them good choices for enviornment where copying documents is the primary function of the system. Additionally, The software package is often pre-installed which makes it easier to get everything up and running.

Perhaps the most noticeable advantage of purchasing a separate scanner and printer is the price difference. By purchasing the units separately, you can save on the cost of the single footprint stand, and the computer that is packaged with the single footprint units. Multiple footprint copiers are also often a good fit for environments where separate scanning, printing, and copying jobs need to be processed, especially where multiple users will be using the equipment. By separating the scanner and the printer, you can allow people to access different functions at the same time. Another advantage is that you can choose the scanner and printer that is most appropriate to your application, as well as the optimal software package to manage your requirements.
LED copiers are for companies that require speed and have volume. LED devices are more expensive and they also require more local maintenance, but the cost of supplies is much less. So, if you have volume, either plotting or copying, then an LED device can make financial sense for your company. LED devices range from 4 “D” size per minute to 22 “D” size per minute and usually have an integrated scanner as part of the system. Like with inkjet copiers, the interface can make the difference in how the system works for your environment. If a copier is what the main function is then and integrated copier is the best fit. If your main functions are plotting and scan to file with some copying, then a solution consisting of a standalone scanner and plotter may be a better fit.

There are not many analog copiers manufactured anymore due to the shift to digital, but analog still remains the lowest cost solution to copying other than blueline. Blueline copiers that utilize the ammonia process are now pretty much gone. Analog copiers use plain paper and a dry ink process like an office copier but have some limitations of their own. These are features like only being able to make up to 9 copies of one original at a time, no collated sets or plotting. But for the money, they serve their niche well.

In summary, there are two different types of digital copiers. One based on Inkjet technology, the other LED. Inkjet solutions are slower and less expensive but have the added feature of color. LED solutions lend themselves more to CAD plotting and volume copying. Our favorite solution that meets all requirements is combining a color scanner, a color printer, and an LED device to accomplish color and black & white copying.
